QUAKERCOOL® 7100 HD

CASE STUDY – MACHINING & GRINDING

CHALLENGES

A French global manufacturer of hydrostatic transmissions was looking to improve cost & performance of their cutting fluid for production of pistons. The manufacturer wanted to
improve its operations through:

  • Improved machining performance
  • Reduced total overall cost
  • Reduced foaming

THE SOLUTION

After analyzing the emulsion in use with lab tests including pH, TBN and concentration with acid split method, Quaker selected and gradually introduced QUAKERCOOL® 7100 HD in a single sump machine. Together with our distributor, we made regular visits, provided technical support, and monitored the fluid for the customer during the trial.

As a result of the trial, the customer realized the following benefits:

  • Less foam
  • 5% increase in tool life
  • Improved detergency
  • Rationalization of the cutting fluids used as QUAKERCOOL® 7100 HD is also used for grinding operations on different machines at the customer
